Archie Neal Romines


Mr. Archie Neal Romines, Sr., age 91, of Ekron, KY, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2020, at the Norton medical Pavilion in Louisville, KY. Archie served as State Representative of the 27th District from 1974 until 1982. He was also the founding President of the Grassroots Democratic Club of Jefferson County. Archie’s many memberships included being a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Harrison Masonic Lodge #122 F.&A.M.; a member of the Order of the Eastern Star; Scottish Rite; served as past president of the Shriner’s; served on the South Dixie Fire Department; and was a member of Buck Grove Baptist Church. He was a proud cancer survivor, participating in the Meade County Relay for Life for many years. Also, in his youth, Archie played guitar on WHAS 840 Radio.

Archie was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos Winston and Beulah Mae Carter Romines; his loving wife, Bessie Jo Romines; his grandson, Joel, Jr.; two brothers, Lester Wayne and Delma Kenneth Romines; and a sister, Vicki Cox. He is survived by four children, Archie Neal Romines, Jr. and his wife, Jane Elizabeth, Penny Kay Cash, Mark Romines and his wife, Pat, Melanie Muller and her husband, Hardi; his granddaughter who he raised, Delena Plemmons; seven more grandchildren, Brian and Kelly Johnson, Jessica, Joshua and Tara Romines, James Byrns and Sarah Scharf; 14 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and his brother, COL (Ret.) James Oakley Romines.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 26, 2020, at the chapel of the Hager Funeral Home, with Rev. David Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Buck Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, and from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Saturday. Masonic Funeral Rites will be held at the funeral home at 7:00 PM on Friday.
