Basil Clyde Basham, age 84, of Irvington, KY, passed away at home on Sunday, January 16, 2022 surrounded by his loving family and his faithful companion, Gator. He was born on May 10, 1937 in Harned, KY, son of the late William Thomas Basham and Belva Jean Dowell. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Juanita Helen “Tootsie” Carter; one son, Jeff Basham; three sisters, Mary Logsdon, Carolyn Allen, and Barbara Mook; and his brother, Buford Basham. Basil retired from the Kentucky Stone Company where he worked as a loader, driver, and mechanic. He was a hard worker, and along with his job at the rock quarry, he was also a local farmer. He attended Clifton Mills Church. Basil, lovingly referred to as “Pop”, was a dedicated father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his children, Travis Basham, Greg Basham, Robin Basham, and Brent Basham, all of Irvington; one daughter-in-law, Anna Basham, of Irvington; three sisters, Laverne Carter, Joyce (Virgil) Allen, and Betty Williams; four grandchildren, Warren Wilson, James Conley, Matthew Wilkins, and Summer Basham; and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Alexander Funeral Home on Friday, January 21, 2022 from 10:00 A.M -2:00 P.M. EST. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. EST at the Alexander Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Board officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery next to his wife, “Tootsie”.
