Jacksonville, Fla. (July 27, 2022) – Landstar System, Inc. (Nasdaq:LSTR), a Fortune 500 company and worldwide, asset-light provider of integrated transportation management solutions delivering safe, specialized transportation services, recognized Robert Hail Jr. of Battletown, Kentucky, as a One Million Mile Safe Driver and Roadstar® earlier this month during an awards ceremony at the 2022 Landstar BCO All-Star Celebration.
The annual Million Mile Safe Driver awards honor Landstar business capacity owners (BCOs), Landstar’s term for independent truck owner-operators leased to a Landstar motor carrier, who have driven more than one million consecutive miles with Landstar without a preventable accident. On average, it takes a Landstar BCO 10 years to travel one million miles, a distance that would take a typical non-commercial driver roughly 67 years to complete.
Roadstar status is one of the highest levels of recognition a Landstar BCO can receive. Roadstar inductees are chosen for their consistently high levels of safety, productivity and excellence in customer service.
Hail is one of 112 owner-operators who make up the 2021 Class of Landstar One Million Mile Safe Drivers and one of 16 owner-operators who make up the 2021 Class of Landstar Roadstar honorees.“Robert Hail Jr. is among the safest and skilled owner-operators in the industry. Battletown should be proud of him and this outstanding accomplishment,” said Landstar President and CEO Jim Gattoni.
Landstar’s Class of 2021 honorees also includes nine new Two Million Mile Safe Drivers and five new Three Million Mile Safe Drivers. These new inductees bring the total number of active Landstar BCOs who have earned the Million Mile Safe Driver title to 1,106. The new Roadstar inductees raise the total number of active Landstar Roadstar recipients to 172. Landstar first began awarding the honor in 1990.
