On Monday, Dec. 12, at 11 a.m., the parents of a two-month-old child were arrested by Detectives with the Meade County Sheriff’s Office for the attempted murder of their infant.
According to Sheriff Phillip Wimpee, the Detectives’ investigation into the abuse of the child found that it spanned over several weeks, and the infant had sustained 17 fractures upon examination. The injuries’ severity was deemed potentially lethal due to the child’s age.

Hayes, 23, both of Brandenburg, were arrested and charged with Attempted Murder, Criminal Abuse 1st Degree (Child under 12 months), and Assault 1st Degree – Domestic Violence. Both parents are currently lodged in the Meade County Detention Center. Sheriff Wimpee said that no further details would be released due to the juvenile’s involvement in the investigation.
