Updated: Mar 9, 2020

BRANDENBURG, KY- Brian Chism, a Brandenburg native and Democrat candidate for State Representative in the 27th House District opened his campaign headquarters on Saturday, February 22, 2020 with an open house and ribbon cutting. Numerous community members and guests were on hand including former Speaker of the House, Jody Richards to celebrate the occasion.

Chism’s sister, Sara Chism opened the event by recalling the many memories she and her brother had as children growing up in Meade County, “I can remember Brian and I campaigning with Dad, I would get the notepads and pens ready while Brian would help put signs up as Dad went door to door listening to the concerns of voters. Once elected we watched Dad serve our community, he was always working to do the right thing for others. Brian saw this and I know that it sparked his desire to serve others.” She later introduced former Speaker of the House, Jody Richards as an advocate for education and infrastructure during his tenure in office as well as a friend to her brother.

Speaker Richards recalled the first time he met Chism, “He was testifying before the House Education Committee during his tenure as Kentucky FFA President... I was blown away by his confidence and abilities.” Later mentioning he wanted to become more acquainted with this Western Kentucky University student. “As I got to know Brian, I knew that he was destined to serve others in public life. Brian knows this community and loves it, Brian knows business, Brian knows agriculture, Brian knows the legislative process and that’s why he is the right person to represent the 27th district,” Richards said as he introduced Chism.

During his remarks Chism said, “I have seen first-hand how important it is to have a central location to coordinate out of, it helps to get people involved. This office will allow the community to be involved in the campaign’s efforts, such as making phone calls, inputting data, picking up materials and much more. Volunteers are what will win this race! So many have already signed up to volunteer and we can always use more!” A ceremonial ribbon cutting was held to celebrate the opening of the office.

The campaign office is located at 138 Broadway Street, Suite B in Brandenburg. The 27th House District includes Meade and parts of Hardin County, including areas in Radcliff and West Point.
