Finalists for new Meade County Superintendent announced

On Monday evening, April 20, the Meade County Board of Education accepted a recommendation from the superintendent screening committee and selected four finalists for the Superintendent’s position which opened when Dr. John Millay announced his retirement in January.

The finalists are Dr. Mark Martin, Director of Special Education, Meade County Schools, Janette Schmidt, Principal, Meade County High School, Mark Thomas, Director of Operations, Spencer County Schools, and Marcus Adams, Associate Superintendent, Meade County Schools.

Twelve candidate applications were received for the position. All twelve were reviewed by the screening committee prior to making their recommendation to the Board. The applicants included seven candidates from Kentucky and five candidates from other states.

Interviews will begin next week. A formal announcement of the selected candidate will be made after the Board concludes deliberations.
