Frankie Jewell Smith Boyd, age 90, of Brandenburg, KY, passed away at her home on Saturday, February 12, 2022, with her family at her side. Jewell was born December 3, 1931, in Brandenburg, KY, daughter of the late Robert Henderson Smith and Alice Lee Bewley Smith. Her husband, Kent Marshall Boyd, Sr. and brother, Robert Bewley Smith, also preceded her in death. Jewell was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to her family who adored her. As a younger homemaker, she enjoyed memberships in the WMU, church choir, and Meade Co. Homemakers. She was currently a member of First Baptist Church of Brandenburg and the Ambrose Meador Chapter NSDAR. Her first passion was doing genealogical research whenever possible. She compiled Christopher Bewley and His Descendants 1755-1982. Her second passion was music with her family and church. She played both piano and organ for countless funerals, weddings, and worship for over 25 years. Working with them as toddlers, she gave all three of her children the opportunity for piano lessons and to sing in church and school choirs. Born to two hard-working parents, Jewell grew up learning the best of work ethics, which she passed on to her children and grandchildren. What her children will remember and miss the most is her unconditional love, strict expectations, and a love of life! She is survived by her three children: Susan Boyd Mahmoud, Kent Marshall (Brenda) Boyd, Jr., of Bardstown, KY and Steven (Gerri) Boyd of Simpsonville, KY; nephews: Robert B. Smith and Danny E. Boyd; nieces: Myrna Dembowski and Cindy Ruby; grandchildren: Justin O. Boyd, Ashley Boyd Pierce, Sarah H. Mahmoud, and Hannah B. Boyd; great-grandchildren: Harper Boyd, Jaclyn Pierce, and Jaxson Boyd. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 4:00-8:00 EST at Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Funeral Services were held Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at 11:00 EST at the First Baptist Church in Brandenburg with Pastor Steven Boyd officiating. Burial followed in the New Highland Baptist Church Cemetery.
