Mr. George Edward Acra, age 71, of Elizabethtown, KY, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021, at his niece’s residence in Payneville, KY. Mr. Acra was born in Louisville, KY on December 5, 1949, the son of Everett Joseph, Sr. and Anna Mae (Satterfield) Acra. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country in the Vietnam Conflict. He was a Purple Heart recipient while serving, as well as receiving various other awards during his distinguished service. Mr. Acra had many hobbies and things that he enjoyed including gardening, reading, wood and leather working. He was an enthusiast of cars and known to all as an expert at puzzles.
George was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Everett J. Acra, Jr. He is survived by his sister, Carol Bright and her husband, Punchie; his brother, Tim Acra; his loving niece who cared for him, Melinda Givans and her husband, Andy; his niece, Amy Colvin and her husband, Brent; three nephews, Ricky Acra, Josh Acra and Paul Acra and his wife, Clara; his great niece, Kali; his great nephews, Blake, Lucas, Noah, Drew and Colton; and his special friend, Mertle.
Graveside services, with full military honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, KY.
