Gerald Lee Funk

Our beloved “Pop”, Gerald Lee Funk, 84, of Brandenburg, KY peacefully went home to be with the Lord, on Thursday, March 17th, in Fort Myers Beach, Florida, surrounded by family. He was born on November 26th, 1937 in Louisville, KY. Jerry was a loving husband of 65 years, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and a friend to all he met. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Brandenburg, where he served faithfully as an usher for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Marie Funk (Marcum); brother, Dale and Donna Funk, and his children and their spouses: Kenny and Ellen Funk, Jackie Funk, all of Battletown, KY, Michael T. Funk and Gregory Miller, of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Cory and Brittany Funk, their children Harper and Griffin; Nick and Michelle Funk, their children Maddox, Berkley, and Zeke; Jeremy and Peejay Lawson, their daughter Belle; Jenny and Curt Lowndes, their children Eloise and Olive.Jerry loved to work and spent 40 plus years working at Olin Chemicals (Arch), in Brandenburg, KY, as Maintenance Supervisor. He also loved to fish, tell jokes, play Rook and eat delicious food, and he spent his retirement doing just that.

Jerry was a loving, laughing, story-telling son-of-a-gun, who loved life, his family, friends, and God. His best times were spent in the company of all. Anyone who knew him was touched by his smile and his kindness. Jerry was so proud of his family and never failed to tell them he loved them. And don’t worry Pop, we will keep calling the dogs. His visitation will be Friday, March 25th, 2022, at Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon funeral home in Brandenburg, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Saturday, March 26th, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, Rev. Curt Lowndes officiating and internment to follow in Bethany Memorial Cemetery, Louisville, KY.Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the First Baptist Church, 149 Lawrence St., Brandenburg, KY 40108.
