Mrs. Gloria Bertrand, a familiar face, dedicated leader, and experienced educator has been selected by the Brandenburg Primary School SBDM Council to serve as principal.
Superintendent Dr. Mark Mark Martin shares, “Gloria Bertrand is one of the best leaders that I have worked with during my career. She understands the power of positive relationships and brings people together to achieve great student outcomes. Her teams have always led with a servant's heart for children. Brandenburg Primary will experience success because of her influence.”
Mrs. Bertrand moved to Brandenburg in 1989 after marrying her husband, Bob Bertrand who is now a retired Guidance Counselor from Meade County High School. Their son, Kaelin Reed, is a Meade County graduate.
Mrs. Bertrand began her career at Fort Knox 31 years ago as a special education teacher. In 1995, she started her career as a team member of the Meade County School District as an elementary guidance counselor at Ekron Elementary and Muldraugh Elementary Schools for 9 years. In 2004, Mrs. Bertrand started a 14 year tenure as principal at James R. Allen Primary (now Brandenburg Primary) School. Most recently she served as the district-wide Director of Student Improvement for 2 years.
“I have been so blessed to have loved all of the jobs that I have been fortunate enough to hold in my career. Being Principal of JRA and BPS was an honor and a privilege. I am so excited to return to the job, people, and children that I love,” shared Mrs. Bertrand.
Mrs. Bertrand returns to the principal’s seat on July 1. She replaces Mrs. Megan McAlister who was recently named the district’s Early Childhood Education Director.
