A new business, Green Leaf Emporium, has opened in downtown Brandenburg, and owners are hoping to help people with a variety of ailments.
The idea of opening a CBD store entered the minds of part owners Ryan Lane and Michael Kelly back in 2018. On a trip with their non-profit, Global Disaster Outreach, to Puerto Rico, a company called CBDMD tagged along. Kelly and Lane tried their products on the trip and were impressed with the effects. When a spot opened up downtown, they couldn’t pass on the opportunity. They received support from another part owner, Paul Argabright, who suffers from arthritis and uses CBD regularly.
Kelly says that CBD and marijuana, though similar, are also extremely different.
“CBD and THC have many of the same medical benefits,” said Kelly. “They can provide relief for several of the same conditions. However, CBD doesn’t cause the euphoric effects that occur with THC.”
Kelly says that, even if you drank an entire bottle of one of the tinctures they offer, you wouldn’t overdose or get high. They recommend a lower dosage to their customers and suggest that, after using it for a while, if they feel like they need more, to up the dosage.
He says that they aren’t legally allowed to tell customers that CBD won’t show up on a drug test, but they offer a wide range of products, some of which have a minimal amount of THC.
Kelly says that they were excited to locate downtown because of the revitalization of the area that’s been occurring for the last year or so. He says that it felt like home the minute they walked through.
“It does bring joy to be a part of everything happening in downtown Brandenburg,” said Kelly. “It’s definitely a busy place with plenty of traffic. Why not try to start our business close to home?”
