Greenwave baseball honors departing seniors

On May 17, the Greenwave baseball team honored their eleven departing seniors who will graduate before the end of this season. Some of these players have been with the team since they were in middle school and have worked their way up through the ranks to become some of the team’s most influential leaders that will surely be missed in the coming years.

Centerfielder Dylan Abell, son to Reginalyn Duncan and Tony Abell, plans on attending college to major in physical therapy while playing baseball. Dylan has been with the varsity baseball team for five years and with the Greenwave basketball team for three years.

First baseman Trevor Goodwin, son to Jenniffer and Eric Goodwin, will continue his athletic and academic career at Indiana University Southeast where he plans to major in physical therapy. Trevor has been with the Greenwave baseball team for the last five years and played varsity basketball for two years.

Pitcher Tucker Crawley, son to Marcie and Doug Crawley, will be attending Indiana University Southeast where he will play baseball. Tucker has been with the Greenwave baseball team for the last four years.

Third baseman Dalton Wiles, son to Chisty and Chris Wiles, will be attending Southeast Linemen Training Center in Georgia after graduation. Dalton has been with Greenwave baseball for the last five years and is proud to own the loudest truck on the team. He would like to thank the coaches for all they’ve done and a special thanks to his parents for all their love and support.

Centerfielder/pitcher Justin Hiner, son to Ann and Clint Hiner, will be attending EKU after graduation where he will study exercise and sports science. Justin is a member of SADD, HOSA, FCA and a participant of the Lincoln Trail Youth Salute. He has been a member of the Greenwave baseball team for six years and played on the varsity team for the last five years.

Catcher Ben Banks, son to Nicki Smith and Lenny Banks, will attend Lindsey Wilson College to play football after graduation where he will major in sport management. Ben is a member of Pep Club, FCA, SADD, Y-Club acts as the DECA President and a member of the BUMC youth group. He has been with Greenwave baseball for four years and was selected to the Football All-District 1st Team.

Designated hitter Charles Asher, son to Debbie and Doug Asher, will be attending the University of Louisville J.B Speed School of Engineering to earn his Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering after graduating high school.

Outfielder Evan Youart, son to Robin Sipes and Elton Youart, plans to continue operating heavy equipment in the construction and excavation industry. His future plans include graduating high school.

Outfielder Austin Oppel, son to Mandy and Jon Oppel, will play football for Hanover College after graduation while majoring in secondary education. Austin has been a member of the Greenwave football team the last four years and played one year of baseball.

Shortstop/pitcher Kizer Burnett, son to Christie and Joseph Burnett, hopes to play baseball at the college level while majoring in business so that after college he can come back and help run his father’s business. Kizer is a member of FCA and has been with the Greenwave baseball team for the last four years.

Second Basemen Brady Dawson, son to Stephanie Sanders and Cory Dawson, plans to attend Community Technical College to major in finance. Brady is a member of DECA, Y-Club and has also been a member of the Greenwave varsity baseball team for the last three years.
