Guy Edward “Tick” Keys, aged 89 years, passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of August 13, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.

Guy “Tick” was born March 12, 1931, to Guy B. and Virginia Keys of Muldraugh, Kentucky, one of five children. He was married to his loving wife, Margaret Watts Keys, for 54 years where she preceded him in death in 2009.

Guy was a Mason, Shriner, VFW Member and Marine. He was a veteran of the Korean War, where he earned several medals, including the Purple Heart. During his service he traveled to over 14 countries. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Marines never left him, as family and friends will attest. He spent his career at Louisville Gas & Electric where he retired after 40 years of service.

Guy was an avid collector of many, many things. He loved his treasures, flea markets, train whistles and bells. He and his son spent many years collecting and restoring Farmall tractors. He enjoyed proudly displaying and showing his tractors and hit-and-miss engines. In his younger years, Guy enjoyed scuba diving, boating and horse riding. Most of all he loved his family and his great grandchildren lit up his world. He was known to them as their “Pap”. He will be remembered by all for his infectious sense of humor. No matter the situation or circumstance he always had a funny joke to tell. He will be deeply missed.

Guy was the loving father to Thomas (Diane) Keys and Denise Keys Wuchner; proud grandfather of Melissa (Shaun) Hardesty, Jennifer (Kurt) Padgett, Amanda (Larry) Robinson, and Colton (Yana) Wuchner; and Great-grandfather to Amelia and Bryce Padgett, Luke and Andrew Hardesty, Paige and Payton Robinson, and Cannon Wuchner.

He is survived by one sister, Margaret Doyle. He was predeceased by his brother, Louis Keys, and two sisters; Evelyn Vowels and Betty Hesler.

Due to Covid, a private, family-only funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Bruington Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, KY at 2:00 PM. The family has invited any family or friends to attend the committal service at the cemetery.
