Mr. Harold Monroe McIntosh, known as “Mac” to many, 91, of Brandenburg, went to rest and rejoice with the love of his life and The Light of the World on the morning of March 9, 2022, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, IN. Harold was a member of Salem Baptist Church. A United States Army veteran, he served his country as a sergeant in the Korean War in the 7th Infantry Division. Harold worked as an Instrument Mechanic at Olin Chemical Company from 1956 to 1993. He was an avid traveler and loved the coast. Before he retired, he’d often come home from work on the weekends and say, “Mommy, get ready!” And they’d make the trip to the coast for seafood. He and Mary both wished they could have traveled more. Well into his nineties, Mac enjoyed tending to his garden tomatoes, growing zinnias under his kitchen window and spending time with his family. He loved deeply and sincerely. Mac was humble, selfless, and steady, the most genuine soul and the most special husband, dad, papaw, brother, and friend. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary Elizabeth McIntosh; his parents, Olney, and Gertrude McIntosh; a daughter, Freda Gaye; a granddaughter, Kate Brown; son-in-law, Danny Brown; and four sisters, Norma Chappell, Opal Walts, Wenonah Scott and Betty McIntosh. Mr. McIntosh is survived by four children, Brenda Brown, Beth (Rob) Pack, Danny McIntosh and Regina Foushee, and Roger (Tammy) McIntosh; 9 grandchildren, Reba, Erin, Chase, Dana, Levi, Ben, Ashley, Chris and Tessa; 12 great-grandchildren, Austyn, Evan, Carter, Lincoln, Canyon, Griffin, Andi Kate, Chip, Reid, Noah, Natalie, Kamryn, as well as a thirteenth, Penny Layne, on the way; three brothers, John McIntosh, Junior (Yvonne) McIntosh and Kenny (Lavonne) McIntosh; and, close friend, Timmy (Shelia) Kendall, who was like a son to him.
