Harrison County Sheriff's Office will not jail those that don't comply with mask mandate

As of this past Monday, face masks will be required throughout Indiana in most public settings. Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear mandated the wearing of face masks in Kentucky earlier this month.

However, Harrison County Sheriff’s Office in Indiana says that they will not be jailing individuals that don’t comply with the order.

“This order holds private citizens subject to criminal penalties of up to 180 days in jail,” a press release from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office says. “I can assure everyone that your deputies will not jail citizens for failure to comply with this order. We have limited resources and will not be responding to mask related complaints. Any individual that would like to file a complaint on a citizen for noncompliance can do so by contacting the Indiana State Department of Health at 877-826-0011.”
