Herbert W. “Herbie” Chism II, age 60, of Brandenburg, KY, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2020 at his residence.

Herbie was born May 5, 1960 in Hardinsburg, KY to the late Herbert W. and Mary Helen Shrewsbury Chism. His sisters, Dorothy Whitehead and Elizabeth Parks also preceded him in death.

Herbie felt his greatest accomplishment in life was his children and being happily married for 40 years. He was a lifelong member of St. John the Apostle Church and was a member of the UA Local 502 Plumbers, Pipefitters, and Service Technicians in Louisville, KY. He shared his talents in his welding shop for 35 plus years where he fixed many things for many people. His passion for farming was evident as he kept the family farm immaculate and he loved raising his cattle.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nina Chism; son, Brian Chism of Brandenburg; daughter, Sara Chism of Brandenburg; sisters, Judy (George) Angeloff of Ekron and Kathy (Tony) Staples of Brandenburg; and brother, Clyde P Wyatt of Brandenburg.

A private family service will be held later.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:45 A.M. on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at St. John’s Church.

A service to celebrate John’s life was conducted at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 15, 2020 in the Chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. Burial will follow at Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-7 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. Social distancing will be observed and masks are encouraged.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Watkins United Methodist Church or Hosparus Health.
