James F. Nall, 87, of Brandenburg passed away April 16 at Indian Creek Healthcare Center in Corydon, IN. Jim was born in Louisville on March 22, 1933 to Etta and Joe Nall. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Clara; four children Jeff (Celeste), Keith and Kevin of Louisville and Pam Pounds (Frank) of Hilton Head, SC.; six grandchildren Tricia Fitzpatrick, Melissa Bock, Ryan Nall (Erin), Sean Nall, Cory Pounds and Cameron Pounds; nine great grandchildren Lindsay, Joseph, Austin, Savannah, Maddie, Braden, Caroline, Bexley and Parker. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Winnie Nall, Doris Feldkamp, Louise Kleier, and Tom Nall and is survived by his sisters Peggy Frisch of Midlothian, VA and Donna Jones of Louisville. Jim was a graduate of Bishop Flaget High School (1951) and attended Bellarmine University for a short time before earning a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from the University of Louisville (1959). His work took him to Girdler Catalyst, then Brown and Williamson Tobacco where he retired (1991) as a chemist, Head of Research, Development and Engineering and Manager of Product Integrity. Immediately after graduating high school, Jim enlisted and served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a Boy Scout leader at St. Denis and St. Helen in the 1960s. He was an avid Knights of Columbus member becoming “Grand Knight of the Year” in 1969 – 1970. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling the world, woodworking, golf and time in the Great Smoky Mountains with his family at Thanksgiving. A Memorial Mass celebrating his life will be held at St. John the Apostle in Brandenburg at a later date.
