James Lamar Padgett

James Lamar Padgett, 86, of Rineyville, KY, passed away Friday, August 28 at his residence.

His memberships include: St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Flaherty, KY and Hardin County Cattleman’s Association. He was retired from General Electric and was a lifetime farmer in the Flaherty & Rineyville areas.

He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-nine years, Mildred Helen “Punkie” Padgett; one son, Michael Lamar Padgett; and his parents, Hazel & Ilene Padgett; two sisters, Mary Margaret Whelan and Laverne Padgett.

Survivors include: Five sons, Jimmy Padgett & his wife, Judy of Payneville, KY, Johnny Padgett of Flaherty, KY, Joe Padgett & his wife, Darla of Brandenburg, KY, Bill Padgett & his wife, Connie of Hodgenville, KY, Chuck Padgett & his wife, Dana of Rineyville, KY; two daughters, Julie Hinds & her husband, Mike of Rineyville, KY, Sue Hardesty & her husband, Lamar of Rineyville, KY; a daughter-in-law, Monica Padgett of Flaherty, KY; twenty grandchildren; fifty one great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one sister, Elizabeth Hawkins & her husband, Steve of Brandenburg, KY; seven brothers, Martin Padgett & his wife, Stacia of Elizabethtown, David Padgett & his wife, Nancy of Flaherty, KY, Leo Padgett & his wife, Joetta of Vine Grove, KY, Robert Padgett & his wife, Peggy of Lancaster, KY, Greg Padgett & his wife, Laurel of Elizabethtown, KY, Joe Padgett & his wife, Lynn of Elizabethtown, KY, Marion Padgett & his wife, Rosie of Florence, KY; his caregiver, Dedra Dougherty & her family; and a host of extended family & friends.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Monday at Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY and from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Tuesday at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Flaherty, KY. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM, Monday at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Padgett will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Flaherty, KY with Rev. Jeff Hopper officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Martin Cemetery.
