James Paul Holbrook, age 64, of Rhodelia, KY, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown, KY, with his family by his side.
James was born May 16, 1957 in Grayson, KY, to the late Cecil Paul and Ines L. Burchett Holbrook. His daughter, Rebecca Sue Shults and grandson, Mateo Alexander Beu also preceded him in death.
James was a veteran of the US Army and also served a year in the US Army Reserves following his discharge. He was a graduate of ECTC and was a member of the Corydon Church of Christ. James was a hobby farmer and loved politics and God. He served as a guest preacher at Wolf Creek Baptist Church as well as at several other churches on occasion.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Janet Sue Holbrook of Rhodelia; three children: Patricia Marie Holbrook of Albacete, Spain, Karen Elizabeth (Dereck) Sheroan of Custer, KY, and Stephen James (Tasha) Holbrook of Brandenburg; seven grandchildren: Kaitlyn Shults, Gavin Ladnier, Blake Hill, Emma Smith, Haleigh Sheroan, Olivia Holbrook, and Hudson Holbrook; two sisters, Inetta Queen and Darlene Schlabach, both of Cincinnati, OH; brother, Danny Lee Holbrook of Mt. Orab, OH; nieces and nephews: Larry Ammons, Jennifer (Jon-Mark) Kendall, and Rachel Ammons-Swink; and an abundance of other family members who will miss him dearly.
Funeral Services were held Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 1:00 PM EDT from the Chapel of Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home in Brandenburg with burial to follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Lodiburg, KY.
Visitation was held Tuesday, October 12, 2021 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM and after 9:00 AM EDT Wednesday at the funeral home.
