James Robert Hood, age 93, of Irvington, KY, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at his residence.
He was born in Grantham, North Carolina on June 6, 1927. James was a proud US Navy veteran who served in World War II and retired as a truck driver for J.B. Hunt. He was a religious man who loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his son, Bruce Loid Hood; parents, Harvey Leondius and Martha Eunice Edgerton Hood; brothers: Thomas Allen, Harvey, and Floyd Hood; and sister, Edna Earl Simmons.
James is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Mildred Lee Goins Hood; children: Roger Dale Hood, David Earl Hood, Roxanne Faye Hood, and Linda Marie Dupin; grandchildren: Billy, Jeff, Cindy, Joshua, Nicole, David, Jeremy, Tammy, Mitchael, Chris, Jenny, and Devin; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; brothers, J.B. and Roy Hood; and sisters, Annette Robinson, Thelma Williams, and Eunice H. Carter-Baldwin.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville, KY.
