JoAnn “Jody” Marie Hagley Young


JoAnn “Jody” Marie Hagley Young, age 91 of Brandenburg, KY, went to be with her Heavenly Father on March 2, 2022.

She was born on August 26, 1930 in Danville, IL, daughter of the late Evelyn Galdis Harrington and Floyd Leeland Hagley. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald Warren Young. JoAnn was a special student of Music at Olivet Nazarene University, because her father was a minister she went to school in many places including, Danville, IL, St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Kankakee, IL, Dutch Reformed school in Chicago, IL and graduated high school from Ridgefarm High in Ridgefarm, IL. She was a member of Brandenburg United Methodist Church; Cooperative Extension Homemakers in Arkansas and Illinois; Town and Country Club in Brandenburg; and Professional Photographic Color Artist of Illinois. She sang in the following choirs, Oratorio Society of Danville, IL; Lutheran Hour Broadcast of Kankakee, IL; Lutheran Chancel Choir of Perryville, MO; and Brandenburg United Methodist Chancel Choir. She worked at Chanute Air force Base as a Photographic Color Artist in Danville, IL; a librarian and youth director at Immanuel Lutheran School in Perryville, MO; worked at Pathfinder Inc. as an academic leader in a special needs school; was a program assistant for expanded food and nutrition program with the Arkansas Cooperative Extension Office (FNEP); volunteer chaplain’s assistant for the Arkansas Department of Corrections for 10 years where she also led the inmates choir and played piano for inmates church services. She is survived by her daughter, Suzy (Mike) Harreld of Brandenburg; granddaughters, Maris (Marcus) Selski-Green of Georgetown, KY, and Rachel (Jake Dopler) Harreld of Columbus, GA; great granddaughters, Layla Marie Selski-Green and expecting Raelynn Ann Selski-Green; and a special “Adopted” Son Mark Harris. Visitation will be held from the Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home on Friday, March 4, 2022 from 3-8:00 P.M. and on Saturday, March 5, 2022 from the Brandenburg United Methodist Church from 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held from the Brandenburg United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Jim Robinson and Rev. Lynn Beach officiating.
