Joe Dudley Basham, age 79 of Garfield, KY passed away in Louisville, KY on February 6, 2021.
He was born on July 17, 1941 in Lodiburg, KY son of the late, Lucy Pearl Basham and Joe Basham. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Garman Ray Basham and sister, Reba Deckard.
Joe or “Dudley” was a U.S. Army Veteran; worked at Brown & Williamson until they closed; worked at Ft. Knox in the grounds and maintenance department; faithfully attended the Corinth Baptist Church in McQuady; was a member of the DQ & Hardees coffee clubs in Hardinsburg before the COVID pandemic; and loved horses and mules. Joe was one of the most genuine and fair minded men, both humble and trustworthy, his word was as “Solid as oak”. He was a great Papaw and will be remembered for the great man he was.
He is survived by his: wife of over 55 years, Sandy Basham; daughter, Jo Lee Basham of Hardinsburg; son, Eric Basham of Garfield; and favorite granddaughter, MaKailye Thomas.
The family has entrusted arrangements to Alexander Funeral Home in Irvington, KY. Due to the COVID pandemic there will be no services at this time.
