John Griggs Frymire, age 94, of Brandenburg, passed away Saturday, February 1 at Indian Creek Healthcare Center in Corydon, IN.
John was born March 25, 1925 near San Francisco, California, son of the late John Goodson and Harriett Eleanor Griggs Frymire. His wife of 62 years, Kathleen Frymire and brother, David Frymire also preceded him in death.
John was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp where he served in World War II. He was a proud graduate of the University of Louisville and always enjoyed cheering on his Cards. He retired from Olin Chemical Company after over 30 years of service. John was a member of the Harrison Masonic Lodge #122 F&AM in Brandenburg, the Scottish Rite, and was also a Shriner. John loved baseball, umpiring for the Brandenburg Little League and was thrilled when his lifelong team, the Chicago Cubs, won the World Series in 2016. He enjoyed his later years in Brandenburg, living on his family property with his sister, Bettyruth.
He is survived by his son, Michael R. (Dottie) Broadbent of Brandenburg; grandchildren: Donna Kaye Bryant, Todd Broadbent, Michael R. Broadbent II, John S. Broadbent, Scott, Broadbent, and Sarah Carter; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and his sister, Bettyruth Bruington.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, Feb. 6, at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home in Brandenburg with entombment to follow in Memorial Gardens West in Louisville.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Feb. 5 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. and after 9:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
