Meade County’s Judge-Executive, Gerry Lynn, passed away at his home on Sept. 6. He was 68 years old.
Meade County Fiscal Court made a public statement on their Facebook page on Monday.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Meade County Judge-Executive Gerry Lynn,” the post read. “Judge Lynn’s passing is a terrible loss not only for his family and friends, but also for Meade County. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, Nancye, and the rest of the family. He will be greatly missed.”
On Aug. 24, the Meade County Fiscal Court stated the Lynn was recovering at home from some health issues, but was continuing to be informed of the county’s day-to-day operations and was handling situations as needed.
Lynn, who was elected in 2010, was in his third term as Judge-Executive.
In addition to serving as Judge-Executive, Lynn also served as State Representative for the 27th District from 2004 until 2006. He served on various boards in the community, and was active in a number of organizations.
Lynn’s funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Sept. 12 at the New Brandenburg Southern Baptist Church. The service will also be streamed online to the Hager Funeral Home Facebook page. Visitation will be held at the church from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 11, and from noon until time of service on Sept. 12.
An Executive Order was issued Tuesday morning requesting all flags, county wide, be flown at half-staff in honor of Lynn until sunset on Sept. 12.
