Kathryn Lamkin Shacklette


Kathryn Lamkin Shacklette, a long time resident of Brandenburg, KY, passed away peacefully at her home on March 8, 2021. Her daughters were at her side.

Born on October 16, 1927, Kathryn is survived by; daughters Marie Rexroat (Jerry) and Gail DeMaria (John), her brother Donald Lamkin, son in law John Wolpert; granddaughters Alicia Shacklette (Joe Drake), Angela Shacklette, Tracy Darnell (Tim) and Renee Janocik (Brian), niece Beth Lamkin, nephew Jeff Lamkin, numerous great grandchildren and her loving care givers.

Kathryn’s beloved husband, Patch Shacklette, her devoted daughter, Patricia Wolpert, beloved son Larry Shacklette and his wife Penny Miller Shacklette, parents Dolph and Beulah Lamkin, siblings Evelyn Dugan, Dolph Lamkin, Jr. and Elizabeth Lamkin preceded her in death.

Kathryn was a proud graduate of Ekron High School where she was a straight A student and a cheerleader, cheering for Patch during many basketball games. Once her children started school, she went to work for the Brandenburg Telephone Company. She had a wonderful 38 year career with the company in Brandenburg and Radcliff. Kathryn was ahead of her time in wonderfully balancing her family life with work.

Kathryn was dedicated to her family, friends, church and the community. She was an active and longtime member of the Brandenburg United Methodist Church and was also a volunteer at the Clothes Closet.

Kathryn was a devoted wife to Patch for 71 years. She was a loving mother to her four children and to all of her family, and a caring friend to many. She really never met a stranger. She will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral home in Brandenburg with burial to follow in Eastlawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 12, 2021 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM and after 10:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Due to COVID-19 protocols that include social distancing and wearing a mask are required at the funeral home.
