Kenneth “Lamar” Coomes


Kenneth “Lamar” Coomes, age 81 of Brandenburg, KY passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2020 in Elizabethtown, KY.

He was born on October 17, 1939 in Payneville, KY, son of the late Hobart Leroy Coomes and Alberta Smith Coomes. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his: nieces and nephews, Jimmy Brown, Jr., Eddie Brown, Ricky Coomes, David Williams, and Dayna Dodson

Lamar was a farmer who liked to garden and would share his bounty of fruits and vegetables; he was a lifelong member of Payneville Baptist Church.

He is survived by his: sisters, Edna L (Jimmy) Brown of Webster and Bonnie R. Dodson of Louisville; brother, Richard LeRoy Coomes of Brandenburg; nieces and nephews, Melody (Neal) Dodson, Robin (Leonard) Hardin, Ginger C. Speer, Doug (Cindy) Dodson, and Dion Dodson; several great-nieces and nephews; several great-great nieces and nephews.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Lamar’s services will be private and his burial will take place in New Highland Baptist Church Cemetery.
