After decades of rivalry games with district foes North Hardin and Central Hardin, Meade County Football received some terrible news today from the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA). Thanks to the Board of Controls new realignment after Warren Central voluntarily requested to jump up to 6-A, Meade County was plucked from their current spot in District 2 and was dropped down into District 3 which is full of Louisville schools. Gone are the days of crossing the county line to play rival North Hardin and Central Hardin. Now, the Green Waves will have to travel to Louisville for all district road games. District 3 will consist of DuPont Manual, Pleasure Ridge Park, St. Xavier and Meade County. District 2 will continue to be made up by North Hardin, Central Hardin and Barren County, but will now have Warren Central replacing Meade County. Meade County appealed to the KHSAA prior to today‘s final ruling, but their plea to stay close to home matched up against long-time, cross-county rivals fell on deaf ears in Lexington. Stay tuned for more information as this story continues to develop.
