The Meade County Ladywave Basketball team finished out their first round of District 11 play on Jan. 10, against the Hancock Lady Hornets in a double header game with the Greenwave team. This was a critical game for Meade as they are the only ones in the district that is without a loss, handing Breck Co. their only district loss back in Dec. before the Christmas break.
From the very first tip of the ball in the first quarter, Hancock was no match for Meade’s high-powered offense. Hancock just could not overcome the pressure Meade threw at them, and at times it seemed as though they seemed confused as to where to pass the ball as they brought it up court. Meade’s offense on the other hand picked their way through Hancock’s defense to build a comfortable 11-point lead after the first period of play. In the second period Hancock began to figure out how to get around Meade’s pressures defense to put points on the board, but they would still find it hard stopping Meade from scoring. Hancock would go into the locker room at halftime trailing Meade 37-22.
