Louisville man arrested in Brandenburg

According to his arrest report, James M. Weston III, 24, of Louisville, was a passenger in a vehicle which was stopped for numerous traffic violations on Brandenburg Road by the Brandenburg Police Department on June 17.

Weston asked several times if he could leave, to which the officer advised him “no,” and the officer began asking for additional units. Once officers were given Weston’s information, a Courtnet search returned that Weston had multiple felony convictions. He also had priors for possession of handgun by a convicted felon. A query on the weapon came back as stolen out of Louisville, according to a report taken by the Louisville Metro Police Department. Officers retrieved a .38 Caliber Ruger LCR Special.

Weston was arrested and lodged at the Meade County Detention Center. He is charged with possession of handgun by a convicted felon, receiving stolen property (firearm) and persistent felony possession of a firearm. All three charges are felonies.
