Mary “Kay” McNeill Allen

Mary “Kay” McNeill Allen, age 75, of Payneville, KY, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Kay was born March 12, 1945, in Louisville, KY, daughter of the late Morris and Mabel Parker McNeill. Her husband, Grant “Junnie” Allen; parents, Morris and Mabel McNeill; and siblings: Nola Oakley, Billy McNeill, and Bobby McNeill also preceded her in death.

Kay worked as a teacher’s aide with special needs children and retired after more than 25 years of service with Jefferson County Public Schools. Kay was a member of St. Theresa of Avila Church in Rhodelia, KY, and was also the secretary/treasurer of Valley Olympic Sports for many years. She loved gardening, growing her flowers, and caring for her yard. She also dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children: Kelly (Denny) Brown of Payneville, Scotty (Shannon) Allen of Payneville, and Karen Popham of Webster, KY; brother-in-law, Earl Oakley of Cadiz, KY; grandchildren: Jason Bistarkey, Jimmy Bistarkey, Timmy Collins, Tiffany Allen, Aaron Allen, Amber Brown, and Tyler Brown; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, January 3, 2021, at 2:00 PM EDT from the Chapel of Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home with burial to follow in St. Theresa Church Cemetery. A Prayer Service will be held Saturday, January 2 at 4:30 PM EST at the funeral home.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 2, 2021, from 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM and after 9:00 AM Sunday at the funeral home. COVID 19 precautions will be required, including the use of masks and social distancing, during the visitation and funeral.
