For the second time in 2021, a Meade County citizen has been charged with murder (two different men in two unrelated cases). According to the arrest report, a Meade County Sheriff's Deputy responded to 3375 Woodland Road in Flaherty to perform a welfare check on Cris Blehar, 65, on Friday, May 21. The victim was found deceased in the residence with apparent knife and bullet wounds. After beginning an investigation, officers learned that Tyler J. Petty had been at the residence on Wednesday, May 19. Petty, 18, who also lives on Woodland Road, was transported to Kentucky State Police Post 4 to be interviewed in reference to the death investigation. Petty eventually stated he killed the victim by stabbing her and shooting her with a long rifle. He then stated that he covered up the body with clothing and took the gun with him when he left the residence.
Petty was lodged in the Meade County Detention Center on a $250,000 cash bond at 11:25 p.m. Friday evening. He is charged with Murder and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
