-- Meade County Board of Education Amends School Calendar and Implements Phased Restart Beginning August 25th for Students --

The Meade County Board of Education voted to amend the school calendar for the 2020-2021 school year this morning in a special called meeting. The amended school calendar includes changes throughout the school year. Key points to note:

● School will now begin on Tuesday, August 25th for students on MyMEADE Online and those who choose the Traditional Model as well.

● August 25th - 28th will be a phased start called “Restart Meade” with school buildings operating with fewer students on campus during this orientation week.

● The phased Restart Meade Week will allow students and staff to experience the traditional school model, new guidelines, and school environment in a manner with fewer students on their first day of school.

● Meade County Schools will continue to utilize Traditional NTI Days in the event that the traditional model needs to be canceled (Example: Snow days, Alternative Learning Days)

● Monday, August 31st, all students who selected the Traditional Model will report to school.

● Preschool will now begin on Wednesday, September 2nd.

Families should visit the Meade County Return to School Website for additional information, school calendar, and building-specific information for the first week of school.

Finally, the automated phone call for families to select an option for their child to return to school has been completed. Households that did not receive an automated call may contact their child’s assigned school to indicate their learning model preference.
