Michael W. “Mickey” Masterson

Michael W. “Mickey” Masterson, 81, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2020. Born September 20, 1939, in Rhodelia, KY, Mickey was the oldest of five children. Mickey had a great love for his wife of 63 years and all his family. Mickey defined what a family man should be. Family always came first, and he treated all his friends and his children’s friends like family. A true gentleman.

Mickey was a Catholic by faith, a Kentucky Colonel, worked with the IBEW Local 369, belonged to the Association of General Contractors, National Electrical Contractor Association, and was a member of the National Street Rod Association. Mickey spent most of his professional career in the electrical industry, working with several Electrical Contractors across the country until he decided to move back home to Kentucky where he worked in Lexington, and then moved to Louisville where he eventually retired. Mickey was known throughout the electrical industry as a true professional, a leader, a mentor, loved to entertain, and was respected throughout the entire construction industry. A true gentleman.

He was preceded in death by parents Paul Masterson and Kathleen Greenwell Masterson, his brothers Joseph “Bud” Masterson, and Terry Philip “Todd” Masterson. He leaves to his memory his wife Jayne Falley Masterson, son Michael W. Masterson (Mike), daughter Tammy Masterson Kline (Steve), son Richard K. Masterson (Amy), grandchildren Justin Kline, Nick Masterson (Barbie), Rachel Masterson, Jessica Masterson, a soon to be great-grandchild, brother Barry Masterson, brother David Masterson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements and visitation will be private for the family on Monday, January 4, 2021, at Owen Funeral Home, Jeffersontown, and burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens East. There will be a celebration of life for Mickey once it is safe for everyone.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Baptist East Hospital for the exceptional care given to Mickey. The family would appreciate, in lieu of flowers, a gift to the American Heart Association or the Humane Society.

Owen Funeral Home - Jeffersontown is entrusted with arrangements.
