“Love In A Manager”
As we follow the theme of Advent, let’s talk about Love. A word that we throw around a lot until we tell someone and they ask “do you?” Sometimes those are the things that make us pause and give thought to the words we speak. But for certain we are at a time in history when people need us to love and care about them. We are living in tough times and it means a lot when we “show” someone we care! I love blessing the ones who least expect it. That look of gratitude is so rewarding. James said, (2:18) But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.
People need us to show love! That’s what our heavenly Father did when He sent His only Son to be born in that manager long ago. I’m not sure many today understand the cost of the “gift” God sent into the world. The Witness of John 1:9-11…9 The true Light who gives light to every man was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him... What about you? Have you received Him as your Savior the greatest gift ever given to mankind? Greater love has no one than this: Behold what manner of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. 1John 3:1 Do you know HIM?
