“Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:20

Prior to my ordination in 2008, I and my wife went through four intense years of faith and pastoral formation. In the third year one of my assignments was to select a protestant minister in my community and engage on our approach to evangelization.

It was a wonderful formation tool. I selected a pastor that attended our local ministerial association which I began attending during my formation period and have continued to remain active. When I first approached him, I think we were both a little tentative about how we would handle some of our doctrinal differences, which there were of course, but soon those concerns disappeared.

We both recognized that our roles as disciples of Christ was not to focus on our differences, but rather to search for ways to point more people toward the teachings of Jesus and his message of salvation.

We soon realized that our call was to bring people together in faith, than let God do the rest; actually, that is the challenge that all believers face. Try inviting someone to church this weekend, they may be surprised who is in their midst.
