According to the Kentucky Healthy at Work directives, all businesses must require their employees, volunteers, and contractors to wear a face covering in any indoor space where it is difficult to maintain a physical distance of at least six feet from all individuals who are not members of that person’s household. Establishments are also required to ensure their customers and all other members of the public on the premises wear a face covering except in specific circumstances. Businesses that are noncompliant should be reported to the state at 1-833- KYSAFER (1-833-597-2337). Establishments permitted and inspected by Lincoln Trail District Health Department (LTDHD) should be reported to 1-270-982-7140. The benefits of wearing a face mask are well documented. They are a critical tool in the fight against COVID-19, particularly when used universally within a community setting. Research indicates masks can lower the risk of infection of the wearer by 65%. From an economic perspective, communities that comply with mask mandates could potentially avert a return to more systemic lockdowns. Wearing a facial covering works. Used in conjunction with physical distancing and frequent handwashing, the spread of COVID-19 can be significantly reduced.
