The Dec. 10 meeting of the Meade County Fiscal Court hosted another packed house with residents continuing to voice concerns about the proposed Nucor steel plant construction. Larry Edelen with the Lincoln Trail Grain Growers said that the University of Kentucky would be doing a market impact study on the closure of Consolidated Grain and Barge. He said that everyone needs to come back to the table and work out a shared use plan for the river port. Ben Sheeran asked the Court if they would support a plan where the elevator and Nucor could coexist at the current river port. “We will support anything that will allow that to happen,” said Judge/Executive Gerry Lynn.
