Recycling . . . A priceless gift to the earth

I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and hope that all of your celebrations will be safe.

A huge thank you goes out to all of Meade County’s recyclers. Not only are you giving the earth a priceless gift but you are also helping to conserve natural resources for descendants of your own family! Recycling conserves energy, cuts down on pollution, reduces the amount of waste going to landfills and also helps create jobs.

Due to the increasing spread of Covid 19, the following procedures will remain in place until further notice: WINDOWS INSIDE THE GATE ARE CLOSED. ALL RECYCLABLE MATERIAL SHOULD BE PLACED IN THE BINS LOCATED OUTSIDE OF THE FENCE OR YOU MAY TAKE THEM TO A SATELLITE LOCATION NEAR YOU.

Plastic, newspaper and metal containers should be placed in their respective bins outside of the fence. These bins have openings on both front and back and are labeled on all sides.

The holiday season generates large quantities of cardboard so, please, ONLY CARDBOARD SHOULD BE PLACED IN CARDBOARD BINS.

Items that we recycle include aluminum cans, antifreeze, batteries, cardboard, magazines, scrap metals, newspaper, oil, steel cans and #1 and #2 plastics. Please note that antifreeze, batteries, magazines, scrap metal and oil are accepted only at the main center, in Brandenburg.

Satellite locations for your convenience are as follows:

Battletown at Hwy. 228/Pine Ridge Road

Doe Valley Near main office

Flaherty Fire Department

Hwy. 60 at Ambulance Station

Midway Quick Stop

Muldraugh beside Dollar Store

Payneville Fire Department

From December 24-27 our facility will be closed for Christmas and from December 31-Jan. 3 it will be closed for the New Year’s holiday.

GARBAGE ROUTES DURING CHRISTMAS WEEK will run as usual Monday through Thursday. Friday’s route will run on Saturday.

GARBAGE ROUTES DURING NEW YEAR’S WEEK will run as usual Monday through Thursday. Friday’s route will run Saturday.

Why not consider making recycling a New Year’s Resolution? It’s a great time to start! If you need any help in doing so or have any questions, please call us at (270) 422-2868. We would be happy to help you in any way that we can.

All of us at Meade County Solid Waste & Recycling wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Enjoy your holidays. Be safe and blessed.
