Shirley Ann Pate, 87, of Irvington, KY passed away Monday, January 4, 2021, at Brandenburg Nursing and Rehabilitation in Brandenburg, KY.
She was born December 21, 1933, in Tar Springs, KY, the daughter of the late Vessie William and Lorena Keenan Hinton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Romuald Lee Pate; her son, Romuald Lynn Pate, and her brother, William Hinton.
She was a member of Irvington Baptist Church where she played the organ for over 30 years and a member of the Irvington #544 Order of the Eastern Star where she was Worthy Matron from 1968 to 1969. She was a seamstress and loved to bake in her earlier years and had an affinity for her “Bling”! She was always matching and dressed to a “T”, never left home without her lipstick, and made the best chocolate pie and sweet potatoes. She was also an avid U of K Basketball fan.
Shirley is survived by 2 daughters: Yvonne Louise (Eddie) Kennedy of Irvington, and Rhonda Lee Richards of Elizabethtown, KY. 5 grandchildren: Lesley (Brian) Haley of Murfreesboro, TN, Desiree (Travis) Hampton of Brandenburg, KY, David (Shana) Blakeman and J.R. (Casey) Richards both of Elizabethtown and Jamie (Karen) Pate of Chicago, IL.; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and her brother, Michael Thomas Hinton of Owensboro, KY.
Funeral services will be held at 12-noon E.D.T. on Friday, January 8, 2021, at the Irvington Baptist Church with burial to follow in Cloverport Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM E.D.T. Thursday at the Alexander Funeral Home in Irvington and after 10 AM E.D.T. at the church.
