The Stuart Pepper Middle School Ladywaves Volleyball team finished out their regular season with a home game against the Elizabethtown Lady Panthers on March 10, after they honored their outgoing eighth grade players. Elizabethtown jumped out to a lead over SPMS quickly getting side outs, and finding holes in the Ladywave formations. SPMS made a valiant effort to hang in there, fighting with each volley to keep the score close enough. Each time that SPMS put a run together to close the gap, E-Town would come roaring back to get the sideout and take the serve over. With the Ladywave down 9-19 to the Lady Panthers, Calli Wiles served up two straight points, but that would be all that SPMS could do as E-town got the sideout, than served up an Ace to win the first set.

In the second set SPMS never gave up as they came back from a four-point deficit to take their first lead of the game. Both teams traded volleys back and forth fighting for each sideout, but E-Town finally got the upper hand as they went on a four-point rally to lead 14-11, forcing Coach Todd Saylor to call a Timeout. After the Timeout both sides again traded volleys once again, with E-Town rallying again to take a six-point lead. Coming out of SPMS’s second timeout, Kaylan Jupin went on a serving tear, ripping off five quick points to get back to within one of E-Town, but SPMS’s rally was short lived, as E-town found their rhythm to close out the second set with a three-point rally, taking the match.
