SPMS Ladywaves Volleyball gets underway

Sports Reporter

Stuart Pepper Middle School Ladywave Volleyball is in full swing, as the Ladywaves competed in their second match in as many days on March 10. This season the Ladywaves find themselves playing in a condensed season and will finish by the end of this month. Their opponent for this game would be the TK Stone Lady Panthers from Elizabethtown.

In the first set SPMS was able to win a few volleys to get off to a good start, but TK Stone came clawing to get the side out. Once TK Stone grabbed the serve, SPMS found some difficulty getting it back, as TK Stone began finding holes in the SPMS defense. SPMS never gave up though, getting a few sidouts and aces to close the gap on TK Stone, but found themselves in too deep a hole to dig out of, as TK Stone took the first set.

The second set didn’t fare any better for our SPMS Ladywaves. TK Stone had warmed up by the time the second set got underway and continued to stay on their game, hitting their marks, and exposing holes in the SPMS defense. By hitting those holes TK Stone added points to the scoreboard quickly, taking a commanding lead over SPMS. Even when SPMS would put together spurts of offense to close the gap on TK Stone, it wouldn’t be enough by the time TK Stone got the sideout and control of the ball. SPMS Ladywaves would fall in the second set as well, handing the match to the Lady Hawks.
