Mr. Waylen John Mantooth, age 37, of Vine Grove, Ky, passed away on Monday, April 6 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY. Waylen was a Senior Service Technician in the HVAC industry by trade, but he was a man of many talents. He had previously worked in the paving industry where his team won a national award for the section of paving between Louisville and Simpsonville on I-64. Waylen was very proud of his time served in the Marine ROTC program while a student at Fern Creek High School. He was a die-hard UK fan, loved his Ford F-150, loved to fish, and enjoyed listening to music of any genre. He thoroughly enjoyed his 3-B’s, Buddies, Bonfires and Bourbon. Waylen was the epitome of what one thinks of when they hear the term “Family Man.” His greatest joy in life was spending time with his wife, 4 wheeling with his kids, or anything in which any member of his family was involved. Waylen was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy and Emily Mantooth, Gisela Padget, and John Silloway. He is survived by his wife, Jacklyn Mantooth; his two children, Emily and Ely John Mantooth; his parents, Barry and Karen Mantooth, Louisville, KY; his brother, Bryan Mantooth, Louisville, KY; his brother from another mother, Josh Bischoff, Louisville, KY; his grandparents, Dennis Padget, The Villages, FL, Maxine Mantooth, Knoxville, TN; his uncles, Michael Silloway and Michael Mantooth; his cousins, Gabe, Alison, Justin and Michael; his lifelong friends, Brian McCaulley, Michael Driskell, Charles Fried, Bryan Rosenburg, Emory Higginbotham and Jason Ferris, along with numerous other friends; and last, but certainly not least, his entire work family at Bryant Heating and Cooling. Funeral Services and visitation will be held privately for Waylen’s family due to health concerns at this time. The service will be streamed on the Hager Funeral Home Facebook page. A public gathering will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations currently to the family, who are setting up a trust fund for Waylen’s two children, Emily and Ely John. Online condolences may be left at www.hagerfuneralhome.com.
