William Gerald “Jerry” Slayton Jr


William Gerald “Jerry” Slayton Jr., 60, of Flaherty, passed away peacefully, January 15, 2022, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown, KY, surrounded by his family.

Jerry was born in Louisville, KY on February 1, 1961 to William Gerald “Bill” Slayton Sr. and Elizabeth Jean Slayton.

He was a graduate of Meade County High School. Jerry loved watching his kids, grandsons, nieces, and nephews play in various sports. He never missed a game. Although he was an avid University of Kentucky fan, he loved all sports. He was a 38 year employee of Republic Diesel where he formed lifelong friendships and often referred to these friends as brothers. Jerry also enjoyed horseback riding, traveling, especially to the beach, and most of all, being with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, William Gerald “Bill” Slayton Sr. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Eva Slayton of Flaherty, KY; three children, Amanda (Eddie) Dieruf, Stephanie (Lewis) Mink, and William Gerald “Trae” Slayton III; his mother, Jean Slayton; two sisters, Robin (Allyen) Wilson and Kim (Jimmy) Dunn; four grandsons, Ryan and Ethan Lasley, Dylan and Logan Mink; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 21, 2022, at the chapel of Hager Funeral Home with Rev. David Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Cap Anderson Cemetery in Brandenburg. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until 7:00 PM on Thursday and from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Friday.
